Net2Phone
IP (Internet Protocol) telephony not only allows users to transmit voice between two computers, but thanks to products
like IDT's Net2Phone, Internet calls can be placed from a computer or a telephone to any standard
telephone, anywhere in the world. |

Net2Phone serves millions of customers worldwide and has established itself as a
leader in low-cost calling.
With a network of customers as large as Net2Phone's, reliability is a key issue. "
We lose money with every lost minute," said David Greenblatt, Chief Operating Officer. "That says it all."
When it comes to preventing problems, one of the most critical decisions developers need to make is the actual computer that
their platform will run on. Net2Phone made the decision to go with computers from Crystal. They chose
CS500 five-slot, CS900 and CS1000 ten-slot computers and currently have well over a thousand units in use
as world-wide gateways for voice over IP and also for their large prepaid debit card system.

Crystal computers have a MTBF (mean time between failure) of at least 55,000 hours or the equivalent of
6.3 years. "In the telephone business, you need a solution with a greater MTBF," said Greenblatt. "Computers like
Crystal's give us that option." Plus, the unique size of the computers allows for 100% redundancy for uninterrupted
service. The alarm notification systems alert users to potential problems due to heat or power issues before the application fails.
These features allow Net2Phone to have total system reliability.
About Net2Phone
Net2Phone is a leading provider of voice and enhanced Internet communications services to individuals and businesses. Its suite of services provides low-cost, high quality phone calls using personal computers, traditional telephones, Internet devices, and calling cards.
Founded in 1995, Net2Phone is recognized as the first company to bridge the Internet with the public switched telephone network. Net2Phone currently routes millions of minutes every day over the Internet, saving consumers and businesses up to 90% off traditional long distance rates. Using its advanced IP (Internet Protocol) network and technologies, Net2Phone routes voice, fax, and other value-added applications worldwide. Net2Phone's IP network extends to over 50 countries and allows users to place calls to any telephone or Internet-enabled PC in the world.
In 1996, Net2Phone launched the first service allowing users anywhere in the world to place phone calls from their PCs to any telephone at low rates. In 1997, Net2Phone introduced its calling card service, Net2Phone Direct, allowing users to place low-cost calls over the Internet with a traditional phone.
Today, Net2Phone is expanding its offerings to new market segments, including ISPs, Internet Cafés, Calling Centers, and Enterprises. Also, Net2Phone now makes it possible for distributors throughout the world to capitalize on the growth of IP telephony by allowing them to earn money from hardware sales, as well as generate revenue every time a customer purchases calling time.
